In the succeeding lessons I met the different types of functions and their graphs. They are very useful in the analysis of quantities and are very much applicable in many areas of human life, particularly in the sciences and business.

The last lesson dealt with sequences and series. In my exploration of sequences and series in algebra, I learned many things about life. I realized that a person's life is a sequence of events that obey certain rules or laws. I learned that life in general is an infinite sequence of events that follow a template or a pattern. This confirms the veracity of the saying, "History repeats itself." Using the standpoint of biblical history, we see that the pattern of oppression-liberation stands out. In the beginning we see Adam and Eve opening the doors of oppression through their disobedience. Then we see God offering a promise of liberation. We see Noah's contemporaries enslaved by carnality and anarchy, and then we see Noah's ark as a symbol of freedom. Then we read about the Hebrew's experience in the land of Pharaoh and about Moses and his liberating staff. Then we hear about Jerusalem's moving from one oppressor to another in a cycle of slavery and freedom. Then comes a man called Jesus who set forth timeless principles that, when followed, will ensure freedom and liberation. Then we jump to modern time where oppression and slavery in various moods, forms, tastes and colors are our daily staple. Life is indeed a sequence that obeys the cycle of oppression-liberation. All these insights I gathered from my encounter with sequences and series.
